The theme for The Gallery this week is Emotion.
These pictures contain a mixture of Pride, Happiness and Nostalgia.
As to whether Pride and Nostalgia are technically emotions I'm not really sure, but I feel them so they are emotions to me and Happiness is definitely one.
I was away at Summer Camp with Surrey Army Cadet Force and a
visiting Officer presented me with my Long Service and Good Conduct Medal.
I'm proud of the 16 years I volunteered, first as an Adult Instructor at detachments then as a Chef catering at many different functions.
It was a happy time, I did some amazing things and I had some fantastic friends.
The nostalgia of times past, of the things I could do before Arthritis became my constant companion forcing me to change direction.

Hi Dawn, it's Aimee. Congrats on your achievement. You've worked hard you should be proud :D nostalgia can be a good thing, for me though it ties with sadness and regret. Interesting how one emotion can translate differently to individuals. Hope you are having a good day. Hugs
ReplyDeleteThanks Aimee, all good here.
DeleteStill on my holiday but at home now, these pictures must have been taken about 6 or 7 years ago now, I used to love working with Cadets.
I must have been doing something right,I now have 3 Godchildren from the kids I worked with once they grew up and started their own families.
I think everyone of us has something sad and regretful in our past, but it's what makes us who we are today and I believe we are stronger for it.

DeleteWow, congratulations Dawn, that's a tremendous achievement. It must be so hard being forced to change direction with your health - but I suspect your spirit is strong and the memories must make you so proud. All the very best x
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words Sarah, the change in my situation has been a slow process, but over the last year I've really had to come to terms with my limitations.
