I needed to do something to keep my hands supple as I have really bad Arthritis in them.
My Granny taught me to knit and crochet as a child, and I thought it would be good to do it again for my hands. But when I looked into lessons they were so expensive!
I saw on twitter that a Stitch & Bitch group had started in my area and was having it's second meeting that night.
So I dug out some needles and wool and had a go, I didn't want to turn up if I'd forgotten how to do it.
I was quite pleased with my first effort.
So then came the hard bit, actually getting there as I suffer from
Panic Attacks, I did get there, and met some wonderful people who made me feel most welcome.
I've been doing Cross Stitch for years, so as I had no ongoing knitting project, I took one that I had started about 5 years previously, but put it down one day and hadn't picked it up in years.
I was given loads of compliments, which boosted my confidence no end and has prompted me to make a concerted effort to finish it, I also vowed to return as I rarely go out.
When I got home, I decided to unpick my small piece of knitting, as I only had that small ball of wool, to see if I could also remember how to crochet.
It was getting pretty late by this time so off I went to bed, vowing to buy some books on knitting and crochet, and get started again, as I had really enjoyed doing it
Over the last few week I have knitted and crocheted several items, and I'm getting better all the time.
Why haven't you posted the pic of your very fine knitted gloves?
