Don't Cook Your Dog sounds terrible doesn't it?

But people are still leaving dogs in boiling hot cars!

We have just had three very hot days, with more to come over the weekend. 

Cars get very hot, very quickly, and the effect on a dog trapped in a car is like putting your Sunday Roast in the oven. The dog is quite literally cooked alive, it is a horrific and painful way to die! 

There is a misconception that if you leave a window open then it's ok. It isn't, it makes no difference at all!

CAR EXPERIMENT : TEMPERATURE RISING

The car experiment was done by Kate Price, owner of the famous Olive the Pug, on a sunny Saturday in July. And the results are shocking! Obviously there is not a dog in the car!

11.15 AM Car in sun front two windows open	11.15 AM Outside temperature: 29° Celsius
11.20 AM [in car] 31° Celsius / 2 front windows open	11.25 AM [in car] 40° Celsius / 2 front windows open
11.30 AM [in car] 40° Celsius / 2 front windows open	11.30 AM Now opened 4 windows to typical height
11.40 AM [in car] 45° Celsius / 4 windows open	On back shelf of car in direct sun, all 4 windows open.  It only took a few minutes to reach over 50° Celsius

As you can see the temperature rises inside the car shockingly fast! 

When going out, please think seriously if you really need to take your dog with you. He would be so much happier at home in a nice cool house than trapped in a car being cooked alive.

Many years ago I witnessed a dog being removed from a hot car, sadly the dog died before it was rescued, it was the most horrific thing I'd ever seen, and I hate to think of the suffering it must have endured.

Ignorance is no excuse...

 I stopped a lady yesterday, as she was walking away from her car leaving a Collie type inside. I pointed out it was far too hot to leave the dog in the car, she had no idea that leaving the windows open wasn't enough. Luckily my car was nearby so I showed her my Don't Cook Your Dog sticker, so she got the dog out and took it with her.

If you see a dog in a car on a warm day the RSPCA advice is to call the Police on 999.

If the police are unable to attend, call the RSPCA 24-hour cruelty line on 0300 1234 999 or if you are in Scotland: 03000 999 999 for SSPCA

Please be vigilant, dogs are relying on you to educate their owners and save them!

Thought for the Weekend

Remember a layer of dust protects the Wood beneath it.

'A house becomes a home when you can write 'I love you' on the furniture.'

I used to spend at least 8 hours every weekend making sure things were just perfect - 'in case someone came over'

.

 I realized one day that no-one came over, they were all out living life and having fun!

NOW, when people visit, I don't have to explain the 'condition' of my home.

The Jumper Update

Things are going well with the jumper at the moment I'm happy to report, although it is a very slow process as I can only do it when my hands feel up to it.

Getting somewhere at last

As you can see the pattern is finally taking shape, I'm very please with it I have to say.

It's amazing what you can achieve with two simple little stitches,

and when I put them in the right places lol!

I've had to stop knitting the front, as it has the odd mistake, and it will now become the back of my jumper.

I have started the front again, hopefully this will be perfect, I can live with mistakes on the back, but not on the front when I will be able to see them all the time. They are only very small mistakes, but they will bug me if I can see them.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder  (O.C.D.) is a bugger like that!!!

I won't let it beat me I will get this Jumper finished...

A Strange Week

I have had the strangest week.

Monday:-  I made what has become the normal round of phone calls, trying to find out what the heck is going on with my job!

Tuesday:-  My back and neck were agony, so had to come home from work early and go to the Doctors, she thinks I may have a spur on my  neck trapping the nerves and making my hands feel all numb and tingly, so need an x-ray doing for that. In fact just remembered, I've still not phoned to make an appointment.

Wednesday:-  What a grotty day at work, with my back still playing up and I was trying to keep my temper as best I could, as a

So Not Impressed

Finally decided I was brave enough to start knitting myself a jumper. Found a pattern I liked, purchased the wool and needles, now I  had everything I needed and was ready for the off.
