Dogs Like Knitting Too

I know I've been so very tardy about posting lately, but I have been busy knitting for the dogs.
I know **grins** but I don't have small people to knit for anymore and as most of you know my dogs are my babies.

I mentioned a few weeks ago I was knitting Badger Boo a jumper, he's been feeling the cold indoors due to hair loss from his medication. I love this pattern so much, as it uses my two favourite stitches Cables and Moss Stitch.
Badger Boo was having a shy day when I took these photos and refused point blank to look at the camera, luckily it's the jumper I was photographing not him LOL.

Saturday is Caption Day

It seems like an age since I last did a Saturday Caption with everything that's been going on here, but I took this picture of Badger Boo last week and as soon as I saw it I thought, that's a #SatCap picture.

I'm so glad to be back and looking forward to catching up with everyone again.

Smile it's The Weekend Blog Hop {11}

It's that time of the week that we all love, it's almost the weekend. Because of that I just love Fridays, it's my favourite day of the week.

Years ago Friday was always Pay Day, the day your Boss gave you that little brown envelope full of cash with everything hand written on the front. When did we stop getting those and Pay Day become monthly and your money went straight into the bank? It sure didn't seem the same once the little brown envelopes stopped, did it?

A quick update on the diet front, after a tough week full of cravings and a couple of blips, I jumped on the scales this morning and I've lost 5lbs this week, yes you read right 5lbs.
Feeling pretty pleased with that but know it won't carry on that way, I'll only lose a pound or so a week from now on.
I wish it was quicker but 1lb at a time is the healthiest way to lose it and keep it off, fad diets just don't work because as soon as you start eating properly again all the weight just piles back on again.

Badger Boo had a trip to the Groomers and came back looking a right little smarty pants, he really enjoys posing for his post groomer  picture. He knows as soon as it's done he always gets a chewie for being good.

As soon as I lift him off the table he starts charging around the garden barking his head off, telling me to hurry up, nothing like the serene pup you see in the picture. I really like this picture as it's the first one in ages that his cataracts don't show up in.

Poor Badger has had to go on a diet too, whilst he is by no means fat he is starting to get a little bit of a covering over his ribs. I've never had to worry about his weight before as he's always been a finicky eater, but over the last few months food has suddenly became his number one priority. Prevention is better than cure so I've nipped the weight gain in the bud.
Wish I was so strong about myself though!

Hope you all have a great weekend

Smile it's The Weekend

I walked into my bedroom this morning and was confronted by the cheeky Badger Boo just chilling out on my bed without a care in the world.

He'd obviously had a good root around to get comfy looking at the state of the soft toys, but how could I be angry when he just looks so darn cute and makes me smile all the time at his daft antics.

I'm convinced he does all his silly things on purpose, he's a natural clown and seems to get a real pleasure when he hears us laugh.
Laughter is the best medicine after all.

Hope you all have a great weekend.

Smile it's The Weekend

Badger Boo loves coming to the allotment with me, usually he likes to help with the digging, but as it was a bit chilly yesterday he opted to take a supervisory roll, watching me from the comfort of his cushion in the shed.

I recently decided to hand back the rear half of our allotment as it's just too big for me to manage on my own as Himself can't do any of the heavy work at the moment.

Last year I covered the rear to stop the weeds growing and to save me having to mow it in the summer, as I'm handing it back I had to get it uncovered ready for the next person to take over. The back half is in a lot better condition than when we took it over as you can see here.

The tarpaulins look so untidy to my tidy mind, but in the long run they will make life so much easier when it comes to digging again.

I've left one of the beds uncovered as it has the Rhubarb and some Leeks in it, plus last year it was turned over many times and the Couch Grass was sort of under control by the end of the Summer.

Now it's time for my favourite part, planning what to grow this year and setting out the plans for some new raised beds, I already have the materials just didn't have the time to sort them out last year.

I'm also thinking of planting a Pear and Cherry tree to compliment the existing Apple tree which bore so much fruit last year I've not had to buy any apples and still have plenty in my shed at home.

Originally there were plans to have a meadow area at the back to attract bees and insects, I'm hoping to still have an area to do this but not sure how it will fit in now on a smaller plot.

I had so many plans for the allotment last year, and hope to get them all in place this year and turn it into a beautiful and tranquil place that supports us with yummy organic vegetables.

Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

We all love a good sleep don't we?
Badger Boo is no exception, he can sleep for England.

My favorite picture is the one above, but just for fun I though you should see just how sleepy this little dog is.

I think you'll agree he's going for some sort of a world sleeping record.

It's Been a Good(ish) Week

Me, Myself and I

It's been a pretty good week here.

Although Himself is still suffering a lot pain, he received a phone call on Monday offering him an operation slot the first week in January. This is fantastic news, so apologies for this post being a day late, but I was at the hospital yesterday with Himself having his Pre-Op Assesment done
Fingers crossed all goes well this time.

The camper van had it's MOT done on Thursday and passed first time. It was a surprise as it's sat for approx 18 months unused although we did put new wipers on and all the tyres have had to be replaced one by one over the last 12 months due to "unexplained" punctures.
It also had a service, new brake fluid and it's annual SMMT to ensure we don't die of carbon monoxide poisoning plus checking the water tanks are safe and not harbouring any nasty bacteria to make us unwell.
All this took a couple of days which meant I was left car less as my car had been left at the storage area, which was really awkward when my son texted me asking for a lift back from University on Thursday night and I couldn't give him one.

Badger Boo was very excited to see the Camper Van again, I'm sure he thought we were off to the beach.
Poor Badger Boo, you can see the disappointment on his cute little face when he realised we were at the garage and not the beach.

Off on my next Daft Adventure: or maybe not!
The crafting side of things is going very well at the moment and I'm very busy. I hope to update my website with more news this weekend, although I've been very naughty and fallen behind on the whole online/media front recently **slaps own wrist**

Smile it's The Weekend

It's been a strange old week here. I've  been busy crafting between bouts of feeling terrible, I've been struck down with "The Dreaded Lurgy" better known Tonsilitis which has now become a stinking cold.

It's taken a lot out of me energy wise, but I've woken up this morning feeling so much better now that the snot has solidified instead of my nose being a constant running tap.

Sorry, was that too much information?

To cheer myself up I went on a little shopping trip yesterday, not being well enough to drive to Hobbycraft in Woking, I popped into Lorimers in Godalming.

OMG Look what I found!!

I need a Bubble-Wrap fix
How I love Bubble Wrap
POP POP POP POP POP POP POP

After my brief fling with the bubble wrap I headed into the craft section to buy myself some double sided sticky tape, not as exciting I grant you, but essential.

It's starting to get really cold here now, I've even had to start wearing my thick jumpers, soon I'll have to it'll be time to put the radiators on.

Even though Badger Boo has his own heat pad in his bed that stays warm for up to 8 hours, look what I found on the sofa when I arrived back from my trip out.

Zzzzzzzzzzz
Cheeky pup!
He looked so comfy I left him there to sleep for a while.

Don't forget the link up below can be about anything, all are welcome and it stays open until midnight Sunday.
Full details here.

Hope you all have a great weekend.

Smile it's Friday

A walk in the woods is always guaranteed to cheer me up, especially when accompanied by my best friend Badger Boo

We're very lucky to live in the Surrey Hills which is an area outstanding natural beauty, we have so many lovely areas to chose from to walk but my favorite by far is Witley Common.

Badger Boo just loves to charge around and around flushing out the Squirrels.

Get otta ma way, I'm coming through!!!
Shhhhh I spy a pesky Squirre!!!

He also has a passion for sticks (even though he's not allowed to play with them for safety reasons) So he gets around the rules by always trying to pick up one that's far to big!

The noises he makes in frustration at not being able to pick it up always have me in stitches.

Come with me stick GRRRRR
Badger's favorite thing to annoy me make me smile, is to pop into pictures when I'm trying to capture "The Shot" I've lost count of how many times he's appeared in pictures he shouldn't LOL.

He's always doing something really daft and helps me find the joy in each day.

His sight has always been really poor because of PRA  but now its complicated by the appearance of Cataracts. He also seems to be going deaf, which we noticed recently because he hardly ever barks at the door now (thankfully) it was the one bad habit I was never able to break him of.

But at 12 years old he is still fit, healthy and active, living life to the full and bringing joy to all he meets.
You can't help but smile and fall in love with this cute little face.

Hope everyone has a great weekend xxxxx

A Corner Turned

Things have finally started to look up here, yesterday we popped down to the allotment to drop some bits off into our new shed which arrived a couple of weeks ago.

We had no intentions of doing any work, just picking some apples to freeze, and set things up in the shed. Sadly we've been neglecting the allotment  the past couple of weeks, what with Himself being so unwell and I've been very busy working at home on some commissions and stock for Stone Pit Crafts

Himself said he felt up to doing some weeding, I was obviously worried in case he overdid things, so I took charge of the fork so he couldn't, and whilst he did some light weeding I set about digging up the veggies that had gone to seed as we'd not been about to harvest them.

Whilst we were busy digging and weeding Badger Boo decided to eat as many of the windfall apples as he could. I can't remember if if I've ever mentioned it before, but Badger Boo is a huge lover of all things vegetable.

This year he stole and ate all of the cucumbers off the plants at home, was secretly stealing and eating the potato's from the potato sacks and even made a start on the strawberries until I finally figured out what was going on and built some Badger Boo proof defences.

So what was meant to be 20 mins on the lottie turned out to be a couple of hours enjoying the outdoors again. Until the car journey home when Badger Boo let rip with the stinkiest botty burp ever, I can honestly say it made me feel most unwell.

I think at last Himself is finally turning a corner and starting to feel a little better, until his next operation that is. We're seeing the Specialist this afternoon, so we'll have a better idea what's going to happen soon.

In other news the Monday night Knitting Group has gained quite a few new members over the last couple of months, we may have to move out of the snug area and into the main part of the pub soon as it is getting a bit of a squeeze in there now. The Wednesday Lunchtime group is still fairly quiet with only a couple of members, I'm wondering if the Weds group needs a change of location?

We have a facebook group open to all, so if your a knitting and crafty type of person your more than welcome to join us, show off your projects, ask advice and connect with other like minded people.

Hope you're all well?
Take care.

FreeCycle, Allotment and Potato's

At last the allotment is taking shape and showing results, do you remember how bad it was when we took it over? If not then take a look here.

The back half is still covered in tarpaulin to stop the weeds growing as not been able to devote as much time to it as we would like, with Himself going in and out of hospital and my own Bad Days thrown into the mix.
But we have made a good start and stuff is growing, others at the allotments say we have achieved a lot in a short space of time, so I guess we have.

I've Been a Tardy Blogger Lately

Firstly I must apologise for my tardiness and hardly posting news here in the last couple of months. Things have been totally manic since I launched Stone Pit Crafts which I'm really happy about, but it has taken up a lot of my time, hopefully now things have quietened down a bit I can get back on an even keel keeping up with everyone again.

Although I am very pleased to see, each week another person joins the blog hop "Smile it's Friday" and last week was the most entries so far. If you want to join in just add your link to the post, it runs from Friday to Sunday so plenty of time to join in.

The Arthritis in my hands has been playing up a fair bit lately, as I've been over doing the knitting and finger physio to get the orders out. My good friend Lesley sent me a picture of the Welly Toppers I made for her as I forgot to take a picture **slaps own wrist** more about them will be written on Stone Pit Crafts  Handmade Monday post next week.

I got an awsome new PDF Scanner app thing on my mobile and it works really well at scanning the cards I make, for some reason I was having real problems taking pictures of them, they always looked like they were taken with a fairground mirror.

Badger Boo is well, but I fear his advanced years may be catching up with him. He's sleeping an awful lot theses days, although he's his usual mad self when awake and not slowed down at all, he'll be 12 in October, hardly seems any time ago he was such a cheeky young pup.

Next week Himself goes back into hospital for another operation, neither of us are looking forward to it, but we really hope it sorts out his ongoing problems. It's hard to see such an active and fit person reduced to a shell of his former self, in so much pain and so unhappy.

I'm hoping to get my little car back soon, my son has been borrowing it for the last year to get to his collage course. It's been really tough without a car, but his needs were greater than mine at the time.

I hope you're all keeping well and life is being kind to you?
