Who ate all the Pies?

The diet has been pushed aside over the last few months, far too much stress in my life over whether or not I was going to lose my job, than to be worrying about what I've been eating, and then getting a telling off by the nurse at the "Fat Clinic"

Although the job situation still hasn't been resolved, I'm more relaxed about the situation as I'm now being kept in the loop about what is happening.

My joints have been giving me some serious pain of late, so thought I had better check out my weight on the scales.

OMG I got the shock of my life!!!!

I don't know what my exact weight was the last time the nurse weighed me, as it was agreed I wouldn't be told, as I had hit a long standing plateau, but I was 267lbs when she stopped telling me, and I had been steadily losing weight from that point.

When I stood on the scales last week I had shot up to 180lbs!!!!

I was so upset, it's taken me years to lose all that weight, as it's been such a slow process with my lack of mobility, but I've managed to knuckle down over the last week and stuck to my diet.

I stood on the scales today, and I'm very pleased to say I've lost 2lbs, so I'm getting back on track again.

As anyone who has struggled with their weight will know, it's simple to put weight on really quickly, and it's bloody hard work to get it off again.

Sensible eating and exercise is all it takes, so all the skinny people tell you, but it's not just that, it's about "Mind Set".

It's something you have to want to do, and be prepared to stick too, if your not, it won't happen!

If your not in the right frame of mind, you will never lose weight. Lectures and nagging will never work, I find it makes me less inclined to stick to a diet.

If you really want to help someone lose weight, then encouragement and support is the way to go. Not criticism if they've fallen off the wagon and eaten something they shouldn't.

There are a lot of reasons why people eat too much, and it's NOT always because they're greedy!

  1. Hi Dawn, your weight doesn't change the remarkable person you are. Remember those small steps?

  2. Thanks Lesley , good news is I'm back on track.

The More I can keep off the better, trouble is I barely ate in the mini heatwave, which is the worst thing to do as body goes into starvation mode and hangs onto all the calories! Grrr

  3. I can relate to this so much. I seem to have been up and down for years. I lost 4.5 stone a few years ago and swore I would never put it back on. Mind set is exactly right. I got totally motivated and went for it. A little incentive of having to take my kids to my ex's wedding had a little bit to do with it....Still here I am two years later and its me who is getting married in two months. Since buying my dress I've added a stone :( Not good, confort eating and wine.
I think you need to be kind to yourself. As you say, we know what to do, more exercise, less rubbish. It's the incentive that is important. I also stop beating myself up if I slip up. Good luck with it, you can do it :)
