My First Project

Didn't know what to make for my first project as I'm not very good at reading the patterns yet, so I wanted to do something easy.

Found a pattern for some simple gloves, had enough wool, but oh I didn't have the right needles.

Surely using 6mm needles instead of 5mm wont make that much difference, will it?

Worked out the tension, but didn't really understand it, and I got started.

A few hours later I was sewing up my right glove to finish it, feeling  very proud of myself, and then I tried it on.

Only to find it would have fitted Goliath, it was massive!

Knitting and Crochet

I needed to do something to keep my hands supple as I have really bad Arthritis in them.

My Granny taught me to knit and crochet as a child, and I thought it would be good to do it again for my hands. But when I looked into lessons they were so expensive!

I saw on twitter that a Stitch & Bitch group had started in my area and was having it's second meeting that night.

So I dug out some needles and wool and had a go, I didn't want to turn up if I'd forgotten how to do it.

I was quite pleased with my first effort.

So then came the hard bit, actually getting there as I suffer from
Panic Attacks, I did get there, and met some wonderful people who made me feel most welcome.

Spoilt Rotten

In this house there is only one priority, my beloved Badger Boo I don't believe in dressing him up, or feeding him non doggy treats, but he is part of our family and as such gets spoilt rotten.

He goes everywhere with Himself and I and we look forward to the weekends when we spend family time together. So when on Friday night he started to limp we were very concerned, it was nearly midnight. I had to choose did I call the Vet or leave it until Saturday?

After much debate I decided to leave it until the morning as it wasn't a life threatening condition, as a result had very little sleep as he was whimpering most of the night.

I couldn't give him any Paracetamol due to his small size, as it

The Bermuda Triangle

Went for my Medical yesterday, and pleased to say the Doctor was really very nice and considerate of my situation, unlike the woman I saw previously!

But Winnersh Triangle is more like the Bermuda Triangle! Himself and I got off the train, to be confronted by loads of steps to get out of the station, luckily we were early, so I was able to take my time hobbling down them.

Checked the map we were given and set off into a huge industrial estate, after about approx 10 minutes we still hadn't found the place we were going too, even though we were standing on the spot indicated on the map (we are both competent map readers by the way). So started to look around for somebody to ask.

Long story short, after taking the scenic route we did get to the Medical Center eventually on

Glad that's Over

What a week it's been!!!

Credit

I've been highly stressed this week, some of my own making, but mostly because of others...

No news on the Medical front yet which is adding to the stress, I know I shouldn't let these things get to me, but sometimes its hard

Versatile Blogger Award

OMG the Mad Dog Woman of Shackleford aka Lesley Beeton, has awarded me aVersatile Blogger Award.

What a wonderful surprise!

I've only been Blogging a short while, but have been following several Blogs for some time.

It all started very randomly, with topics that I felt strongly about, but now seems to have settled into a pattern.

Gosh, now for the hard part I have to nominate my favorite Blogs for Awards:-

Mad as a Box of Frogs

Last week I went for my medical about my fitness to carry on working, and boy was that a waste of time!

Himself had to come with me as I find it far to stressful to go to new places on my own.
Had to travel all the way to Portsmouth, and it then took me 25 minutes to hobble to the building where my medical was taking place from the train station.

By the time we got there, I was in serious pain and could barely walk. Thankfully there was a lift, so no stairs because I really don't think I could have walked up them if there were!

As I booked in 15 minutes before my appointment, this woman came out and said "Are you Dawn? I want to get this started as I want to go home"

We followed her in shocked silence, as this is my future we were there to discuss. Not some minor medical matter!

She didn't seem to know exactly why I was there, luckily I had taken my previous medical reports which as she read, spent the whole time singing in a rather flat tone "Dum Dee Dum Dee Dee" and doing it even when typing her report.

The whole time I'm sitting there feeling like I'm facing "The Executioner"

She was very unsettling and hardly asked me any questions, just looked at my repeat prescription form and said  "I don't understand how you can be here and awake on Morphine and all your other drugs"

I replied "Because I've just got to get on with life, haven't I" in a rather aggressive tone, so Himself informed me when we left. Oops!!!

I'm not going to bore you with the whole interview although it was rather too short I felt for such an important matter!

She couldn't make a decision, so now I've been referred to see a Doctor for yet another medical, I can't believe how much I'm being jerked around. I'm happy to work, I've never complained about not being able to manage my job.

This whole process is so very very stressful!!!

It's making me feel totally unwell, I'm unable to sleep because of the worry of losing my job and how I will support myself!

Hopefully the Doctor I have to see, will be able to finally make a decision so I can get on with the rest of my life!!!

Hey Fatty Bum Bum

*Screams and covers eyes*
Sorry I should have put a warning on this post, this picture is very scary!!!

The hideous photo that shocked me into losing weight.Only in the album now to make me remember how I never want to look again!!! :- August 2009 - 26 stone 1lb aka 365lbs
When I saw this picture I was in total shock!
I had no idea how heavy I had become. Approx 5 years before I'd had a very bad fall at work, injuring my left knee and back. Trouble was I was still eating as if I was running everyday and going to the gym. Even though I knew I was FAT, at this point I was still getting about reasonably ok most of the time, but had no idea what I

Dear Mr Cameron

Please find below our suggestion for fixing the UK's economy.

Instead of giving billions of pounds to banks that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan.

You can call it the Patriotic Retirement Plan:

There are about 10 million people over 50 in the work force.

Pay them £1 million each severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:

1) They MUST retire.
Ten million job openings - unemployment fixed

2) They MUST buy a new British car.
Ten million cars ordered - Car Industry fixed
