Day Three ~ Innocence ~ #BlogFlash2013

Go through that door
You'll never come back
The walls are bars
The floors are hard

People I've not met
Have judged me bad
They say it's my type
I can only be bad

Bred for money
Without a care
 A needle awaits me
It's really not fair

So here I sit
Awaiting my fate
Through accident of birth
A Pit Bull I am.

  2. That is beautiful but so sad too. There are far to many dogs getting put down for no reason apart from their breed. End BSL now!

  3. Very touching...even sadder because it's true. Innocent animals being vilified for no other reason than their breed.

    1. Thank you for popping over from facebook Nellie/Betsy and leaving such a lovely comment.

Animals and babies are the only true innocents, yet they suffer the most in life..

  7. The innocence of animals . . so very sad. Too many animals are mistreated and made to suffer. You highlight the Pit Bull's case here brilliantly. x

  8. That's a very poignant piece Dawn. As a dog mensch, I had to make the ugly admission not too long ago that, I too harbored bad thoughts based solely on the breed. Shame on me and thank you God for helping me to understand.

    1. Thank you so much for your comment,

The important thing is you have changed your opinion, with all the hype and publicity the majority of people believe what they read.

A dog should only ever be judged on Deed not Breed...

  9. I hate when people blame a dog for it's owner's habits and training. There is nothing wrong with a pitbull, if treated properly. It's so sad to think of those innocent lives lost for stupid people.

    1. Thank you for your comment Kimberly,

I had Rottweilers for many years and went through the nightmare of bad publicity in the late 80's and 90's. It was an awful time, but nowhere near as bad as the witch hunt against Pit Bulls.

It's so disheartening that so many of these type of dogs are bred with no consideration for the rest of their lives or their temperament. I wish I was able to do more.

  10. Really touching poem! It's sad that Pit Bulls are judged so. I've met some that were the SWEETEST dogs ever!

They can be very sweet, it's people that are the problem.
