Spoilt Rotten

In this house there is only one priority, my beloved Badger Boo I don't believe in dressing him up, or feeding him non doggy treats, but he is part of our family and as such gets spoilt rotten.

He goes everywhere with Himself and I and we look forward to the weekends when we spend family time together. So when on Friday night he started to limp we were very concerned, it was nearly midnight. I had to choose did I call the Vet or leave it until Saturday?

After much debate I decided to leave it until the morning as it wasn't a life threatening condition, as a result had very little sleep as he was whimpering most of the night.

I couldn't give him any Paracetamol due to his small size, as it
would overdose him, so I sat it out and stayed awake cuddling him.

By the morning he couldn't put any weight on his paw, and due to his poor eyesight hopping about was a bit dangerous as he was all over the place, bumping into things.

Turns out he has a small crack in one of his toenails, and as a result serious infection has got into his front paw, so he had to have x2 injections, one of antibiotics and one I always call the Molotov Cocktail of painkillers as it is so effective!

He made sure he let the vet know he wasn't impressed, by spitting out the biscuit she offered him at the end of the consultation and turning his back on her. Which was very funny to see, as it was such a human reaction.

He now has to rest for a week, no walks and basically get spoilt rotten, something he enjoys very much.

This is the life. Somebody bring me a snack please...
As you can see he has now taken up residence on the sofa, being lifted onto and off of, and being wrapped up in the blankets we use on cold evenings, and generally lording it over us his minions.

We had to pop out on Saturday, but him not being with us was very, very strange..
Today his is feeling a little better, and can put some weight on his paw, and still enjoying being spoilt rotten...

  1. Oh, poor Badger Boo - nice to be able to put one's paws up occasionally, but not so nice if it is because your are 'pawly'. Hope you will be nipping about again very soon.

    2. He seems a lot happier now, but he still has a fat paw, sometimes he is even putting it on the ground..

Fingers crossed he won't need an operation on it...

    1. He is so much better today Jill, off to the vets in a minute for check up, but I think all is well..

The paw is now nearly a normal size and he is able to put weight on it, in fact he wanted to play ball when I got in from work, which is the first time in a few days he has wanted to play..

  4. That's very good news BB - Jazz and Daisy will be so pleased. They are fine - Jazz hates the rain as he likes to be outside in the sunshine. Daisy couldn't care less if it rains or snows - she prefers being cuddled up indoors.
